PR: Investigation Update: Overnight Shooting on West Front Street
The Statesville Police Department has identified a suspect in connection with the overnight shooting that occurred on July 5, 2026, in the 1300 block of West Front Street.
On July 21, 2026, investigators identified Javon Janard Freeman, 31, of Statesville, as a suspect involved in the incident.
Freeman has been charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Discharging a Firearm into Occupied Property
- Misdemeanor Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Injury to Real Property
- Discharging a Firearm Within City Limits
At the time of this release, Freeman is being held without bond.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Investigators continue to pursue additional leads and are working to identify any other individuals who may have been involved in the incident.
