A Splashing Finale Closes Out the 2026 SPD Summer Camp

Last Updated 6/29/2026Posted in SPD Summer Camp, Police News

The final day of the Statesville Police Department Summer Camp was a celebration of everything campers had accomplished throughout the week. Families, campers, SPD officers, and the SPD Junior Ambassadors gathered at Harris Park to recognize the campers' achievements and enjoy one last morning together before bringing another successful summer camp to a close.

Celebrating Our Newest Junior Officers

The morning began with a graduation ceremony honoring each camper for their participation, enthusiasm, and positive attitude throughout the week.

Every camper received a Junior Officer Certificate, recognizing their hard work and the valuable lessons they learned during camp. Throughout the week, campers participated in hands-on activities focused on teamwork, problem-solving, traffic safety, gun safety, criminal investigations, and building positive relationships with law enforcement.

The graduation ceremony gave families an opportunity to celebrate their children's accomplishments while reflecting on an unforgettable week of learning and fun.

Time Together at Harris Park

Following the ceremony, campers and their families spent time enjoying Harris Park together. Children explored the playground, played basketball, and shared laughs with the officers and Junior Ambassadors who had helped make the week so memorable.

The relaxed atmosphere gave everyone one last opportunity to connect before the day's grand finale.

A Surprise Splash from the Statesville Fire Department

One of the biggest highlights of the day came when the Statesville Fire Department arrived with a fire truck to help campers cool off in the summer heat. Thanks to a special 20-minute water-use variance approved by the City's Water Director, firefighters treated campers to a refreshing spray from the fire truck.

The smiles, laughter, and excitement made it a fitting celebration for the final day of camp and a memory many campers will remember for years to come.

Ending the Week Together

After drying off, everyone gathered for a classic cookout featuring hot dogs, hamburgers, and time to relax with family, friends, officers, and volunteers.

Before saying goodbye, the celebration ended with an impromptu dance party that brought campers, SPD Junior Ambassadors, and officers together for one last round of fun, laughter, and community.

Thank You for an Incredible Week

The Statesville Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to the campers and their families for making this year's Summer Camp such a tremendous success.

A special thank you goes to the SPD Junior Ambassadors for planning and leading many of the week's activities, the officers from the Community Resources Division for investing their time and energy into each camper, the Statesville Fire Department for helping create an unforgettable finale, and everyone whose support made this program possible.

Congratulations to our newest Junior Officers! We hope the friendships, lessons, and memories made during SPD Summer Camp will stay with you for years to come. We look forward to seeing you again next summer!
