The Statesville Police Department's Junior Ambassadors Program was created to provide local teens with meaningful opportunities to serve their community, develop leadership skills, and build positive relationships with law enforcement.
Launched in 2024, the program gives selected youth the opportunity to work alongside Statesville Police Department staff while participating in community events, outreach initiatives, youth programs, and service projects. Junior Ambassadors serve as role models for younger children and help strengthen connections between the police department and the community.
Through hands-on experiences, mentorship, and community involvement, participants gain valuable skills that prepare them for future educational, professional, and civic leadership opportunities.
Many teens want to make a difference but don't always know where to start.
They want to:
Without opportunities to get involved, those leadership skills may never have the chance to develop.
The Statesville Police Department created the Junior Ambassadors Program to help young people discover their potential through service, mentorship, and community involvement. Since launching the program, SPD officers and community leaders have worked alongside local students to create meaningful experiences that encourage leadership, responsibility, and civic engagement. We believe today's youth are tomorrow's leaders, and we're committed to helping them succeed.
Junior Ambassadors are already making a difference. Since the program began, ambassadors have contributed to numerous community initiatives and events.
Since its launch, the SPD Junior Ambassadors Program has provided young leaders with opportunities to make a meaningful difference throughout the Statesville community.
Ambassadors have supported SPD Summer Camp by mentoring younger participants, assisting with activities, and helping create positive experiences that encourage learning, teamwork, and friendship. Beyond youth programs, Junior Ambassadors have taken an active role in serving local families through community outreach initiatives. They organized the Warm Hearts Coat Drive, collecting winter clothing for those in need, and helped support the Cozy Up to Fall event, where more than 400 community members received resources and assistance.
Through these efforts and other community events throughout the year, Ambassadors continue to strengthen relationships between the Statesville Police Department and the residents it serves while demonstrating the power of youth leadership in action.
Leadership starts with taking the first step. The Statesville Police Department is proud to invest in the next generation of community leaders through the Junior Ambassadors Program.
