Statesville Police Department Welcomes Two New Officers

Last Updated 3/31/2026Posted in Police News

The Statesville Police Department is proud to welcome two new officers, Jamie Benge and Troy Patterson, who bring experience, dedication, and a strong commitment to serving the community.

Jamie Benge joins the department with more than 15 years of law enforcement experience. His background includes patrol operations and work as a K9 Officer. He has also helped train future officers as an instructor in the Basic Law Enforcement Training program at Mitchell Community College.

Benge holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certification, along with General Instructor and Firearms Instructor certifications. Outside of work, he enjoys riding his motorcycle, training at CrossFit Catawba Valley, and spending time with his wife, Jessalyn, and their three dogs.

Troy Patterson returns to the Statesville Police Department, bringing both local roots and a passion for service. A Statesville native, Patterson graduated from the Basic Law Enforcement Training program at Mitchell Community College in 2018, earning the highest GPA in his class.

He is motivated by a strong desire to help others and make a positive impact through his work in law enforcement. He and his wife are raising three young children, and he is proud to serve the community he calls home.

Both officers were sworn in last week by Mayor Doug Hendrix in front of family, friends, and members of the Statesville Police Department, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter as they continue their mission to protect and serve the residents of Statesville.
