2025 SPD Fill the Trailer Toy Drive Brings Holiday Cheer to Hundreds of Local Children

Last Updated 1/12/2026Posted in Police News

The 2025 Fill the Trailer Toy Drive, hosted by the Statesville Police Department, was a tremendous success that highlighted the generosity and compassion of the Statesville community. Through weeks of collection efforts and officer involvement, the program helped ensure local children experienced the joy of the holiday season.

The toy drive officially kicked off on November 1 during PumpkinFest and continued through December 13, 2025, with officers spending five Saturdays collecting toys at Walmart of Statesville. The Statesville Police Department is especially grateful to Walmart for their continued support and for welcoming officers and donors throughout the collection period.

By the Numbers

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of residents, businesses, and community partners, the 2025 toy drive made a meaningful impact:

  • More than 8,000 toys collected
  • Over 600 children served
  • Ages served: Infants through 17 years old
  • 380 children identified through the Iredell County school systems
  • Approximately 250 children served through community referrals

From Collection to Delivery

Following the conclusion of the toy collection period, Statesville Police officers spent time sorting, bagging, and organizing toys before making deliveries throughout the community to ensure families received gifts in time for the holiday season.

A Community Effort

We could not have accomplished this without the amazing support of the citizens of Statesville and our dedicated community partners. From toy donations and referrals to volunteer time and encouragement, this effort reflected the strong sense of community that makes Statesville such a special place.

“This toy drive reflects the heart of our community,” said David Onley, Chief of the Statesville Police Department. “Our officers are proud to be part of an effort that brings joy to local children during the holiday season, and we are grateful to the citizens and community partners who made it possible.”

On behalf of the Statesville Police Department, thank you for helping bring joy and hope to hundreds of local children this Christmas season. Together, we once again demonstrated what it means to come together in service to our community.
