National Crime Prevention Week: Building a Safer Community Together
At the Statesville Police Department (SPD), we believe that crime prevention is a shared responsibility between law enforcement and the community. National Crime Prevention Week, observed September 1 - 7, 2025, is a reminder of the proactive steps we can all take to ensure the safety and security of our neighborhoods. This week gives us the opportunity to highlight the many ways we can work together to reduce crime, foster trust, and create a safer Statesville for everyone.

Crime prevention is more than responding after the fact - it’s about stopping crime before it happens. Through education, awareness, and collaboration, we can address root causes and reduce opportunities for crime. Together, we can make meaningful strides toward a safer city.

- Join a Neighborhood Watch Program
- One of the most effective ways to prevent crime is by staying connected. Our Neighborhood Watch groups bring residents together to look out for one another and report suspicious activity. - Secure Your Home & Property
- Small actions make a big difference: lock doors and windows, install lighting or cameras, and keep valuables out of sight. Visible security measures reduce the likelihood of burglary and theft.
- Going on Vacation? As a service to our citizens, the Statesville Police Department offers FREE vacation house checks for city residents who are living in single‐family homes or duplexes. Learn more here.
