Shooting Incident on Galway Drive in Charlotte, NC

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the tragic incident that occurred in Charlotte, NC on April 29, 2024. We extend our deepest sympathies to the U.S. Marshals Service, the N.C. State Department of Adult Corrections, and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for their loss of four fallen law enforcement members. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those who were lost, and we stand in unwavering solidarity with our law enforcement brethren during this difficult time.

Additionally, four officers were injured during this devastating event. Among them is Cpl. Casey Hoover of the Statesville Police Department, who serves as a member of the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force. Cpl. Hoover sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso, an area unprotected by his bulletproof vest. He was transported by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to a level one trauma center in Charlotte, where he underwent surgery. Cpl. Hoover is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

With eight years of dedicated service to our department and two years with the CRFTC, Cpl. Hoover exemplifies the bravery and resilience of our law enforcement community. During this challenging time, we kindly request privacy for Cpl. Hoover and his family as he continues his journey to recovery.
