Statesville, NC – September 11, 2024 – The Statesville Police Department is excited to announce its annual "Night Out" event, scheduled for Thursday, October 3rd, in Downtown Statesville. This free community event, held in conjunction with National Night Out, aims to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and citizens while promoting crime prevention awareness within our community.

National Night Out began in 1984 as a grassroots initiative to encourage neighborhoods to turn on porch lights as a sign of community unity. Over the years, it has evolved into a nationwide celebration, with millions of participants in all 50 states. The event symbolizes the collective commitment to building safer, more engaged neighborhoods.

This year's "Night Out" in Statesville will take place on West Broad Street, between Mulberry and Kelly Streets, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The event will feature a range of activities and attractions suitable for all ages, including free food, inflatables, live entertainment, and interactive displays. Local law enforcement agencies from neighboring communities and community partners will also be participating.

"We are excited to bring the community together for this event," said Police Chief David Onley. "It’s a great opportunity to engage with residents, build trust, and work together to make Statesville a safer and more connected place."

Join the Statesville Police Department and your neighbors for an evening of fun and fellowship as we celebrate National Night Out and continue our efforts to make a positive impact in our community.
