Community Assistance Leads to Successful Drug Arrest

Statesville, NC – The Statesville Police Department's Narcotics Division, in collaboration with the Statesville Police Department's Special Response Team, executed a search warrant at 1154 Mahogany Road, just East of Statesville on January 17, 2024. This operation came in response to community complaints regarding drug sales allegedly conducted by Tony John Young, a 34-year-old male residing at the residence.

Complaints had indicated that Young, an Iredell County resident, was engaging in drug sales both within the city limits of Statesville and from his home.

In light of these allegations, an investigation into Young's activities was launched, leading to controlled purchases of narcotics directly from Tony John Young at his residence on Mahogany Road.

During the execution of the search warrant, law enforcement officers located crack cocaine, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a Mini Draco AK-47 style pistol, which investigators were able to link to Young.

Young is a convicted felon with a prior record, currently on probation for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. Following the search and the recovery of illegal drugs and firearms, Young was apprehended and taken into custody by the Statesville Police Department.  Young was charged with Firearm by Felon, Possession of Cocaine, and Possession of Methamphetamine and held at the Iredell County Detention Center in lieu of a $62,500 bond.

The Statesville Police Department expresses its gratitude to the community for promptly reporting this matter. We encourage all residents to continue being vigilant and proactive in ensuring the safety of our community. "If you see something, say something!" If you observe suspicious or criminal activity that requires immediate police response, please call 911 or contact Statesville Police Telecommunications at 704-878-3406.
