Statesville, NC – December 9, 2023 – At approximately 10:19 a.m. today, the Statesville Police Department responded to a collision with injuries on Shelton Avenue near W. Raleigh Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found emergency medical personnel already on the scene, providing aid to the injured parties. The Statesville Police Department's Traffic Division promptly initiated an investigation into the incident.

Preliminary findings reveal that a gray Honda Pilot was traveling north on Shelton Avenue. The Honda came to a stop to yield to oncoming traffic and signaled its intention to turn into 1386 Shelton Avenue. Subsequently, a white Buick Enclave, traveling behind the Honda, failed to slow down and collided with the rear of the Honda as it attempted to make a left turn into the parking lot.

The impact from the Buick caused the Honda to lose control, subsequently striking two parked vehicles within the parking lot of 1386 Shelton Avenue. At the time of the collision, the Honda was occupied by three adults and four children.

Three of the children, along with their mother, were transported to Brenner Children's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Additionally, two adults and an 18-month-old child were taken to Iredell Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the Buick was also transported to Iredell Memorial Hospital for medical care. Fortunately, all parties involved in the collision sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Statesville Police Department is urging anyone with information about the collision to come forward and contact the department.
