April is Child Abuse Awareness Month - a time to stand together as a community to protect our most vulnerable citizens: our children. At the Statesville Police Department, we are committed to raising awareness, encouraging prevention, and ensuring every child has the opportunity to grow up in a safe and supportive environment.

As a symbol of our shared commitment, the City of Statesville will once again turn the Downtown Statesville crosswalk bollard lights blue throughout April.

This visible reminder represents hope, protection, and our collective responsibility to speak up for children who may not have a voice.

Recognizing the Signs of Child Abuse

Child abuse can take many forms - physical, emotional, sexual, or neglect - and it is not always easy to recognize. Being aware of the warning signs can make a life-changing difference. Some indicators may include:
