Officer David Lowery Retires from the Statesville Police Department After 24.5 Years of Service

After 24 and a half years of dedicated service, Officer David Lowery has retired from the Statesville Police Department. His career has been marked by professionalism, commitment, and a genuine care for the community he served.

A retirement celebration was held on October 29, 2025, where Officer Lowery was joined by fellow officers, family, and friends. The event reflected the respect and appreciation felt by all who have worked alongside him throughout the years.

During his remarks, Officer Lowery shared that his time with the department has truly been an honor and privilege, and that the years have gone by quickly. March 18, 1934: Officer James Ross White, age 43, was killed in the line of duty while investigating a traffic accident at the intersection of South Race Street and West Sharpe Street. He was struck by a hit and run vehicle and died shortly thereafter. The driver, Noah Hayes, was captured a short time later and admitted he was driving the vehicle.
