Statesville, NC – On Saturday, June 28, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers with the Statesville Police Department Traffic Unit observed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Inglewood Road and Grove Road. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver failed to yield and fled from law enforcement, driving off-road through residential backyards.

After a brief vehicle pursuit, the driver abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Following a short foot chase, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The driver was identified as Austin Ty’Kim “Kimbe” Morrison, 23 of Statesville, who had active warrants for Murder related to the June 14, 2025, homicide on Deaton Street that resulted in the death of Timmy Jaurice Moore.

Morrison was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and served with the outstanding Murder warrant. He was issued no bond on the Murder charge. In connection to the June 28 incident, he was also charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Felony Flee to Elude Arrest, Resist, Obstruct, and Delay an Officer, Possession of Marijuana, and multiple traffic violations

This remains an active investigation. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Statesville Police Department at 704-878-3406.
