Statesville Police Department Executes Search Warrant in Child Exploitation Case

Last Updated 11/27/2024Posted in Police News, Latest City News

Statesville, NC – November 27, 2024: On November 25, 2024, the Statesville Police Department, in partnership with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), executed a search warrant at a residence on Royalty Circle in Statesville. The operation was part of an investigation into the possession of child sexual exploitation material (CSEM), commonly referred to as child pornography.

This search followed an extensive investigation that began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) sent multiple CyberTip reports between June and October 2024.

These reports led investigators to identify Michael Todd Everidge, 62, of Statesville, as the primary suspect.

On November 26, 2024, Everidge was interviewed by authorities, arrested, and charged with six counts of Second-Degree Child Sexual Exploitation. He is currently in custody at the Iredell County Detention Center with a $210,000 secured bond.

The Statesville Police Department and the SBI remain steadfast in their commitment to safeguarding children and ensuring that individuals who exploit them are brought to justice. This case highlights the power of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the critical role organizations like NCMEC play in combating child exploitation.

Anyone with information about this case or other crimes involving child exploitation is encouraged to contact the Statesville Police Department or NCMEC.
