Arrest Made for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor

Statesville, N.C. - January 26, 2024 - On January 9, 2024, investigators received a substantial number of reports from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation regarding an individual in Statesville, North Carolina, who was found to be uploading child sexual exploitation material. It was established that the suspect in question was identified as Devin Gage Staley, residing at a home on W. Front Street in Statesville. Investigators sought and were granted multiple search warrants for various social media accounts associated with Staley, uncovering a significant number of material uploads of child sexual exploitation material. 

At the conclusion of the investigation, it was determined that these material uploads had taken place between December 8, 2022, and April 26, 2023, amounting to a total of 33 files.

On January 22, 2024, investigators obtained warrants for 12 counts of Third-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor for Devin Gage Staley.

On January 25, 2024, the United States Marshal's Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force successfully apprehended Staley at a home on Jennings Road in Statesville. Staley was presented before the magistrate, who ordered him to be held without bond, citing the nature of the charges.

March 18, 1934: Officer James Ross White, age 43, was killed in the line of duty while investigating a traffic accident at the intersection of South Race Street and West Sharpe Street.
