Statesville Police Department Identifies Suspect in Bank Robbery – 1829 E. Broad Street

Around 9:20am this morning, the Statesville Police Department received a bank alarm from First Horizon Bank located at 1829 E. Broad Street. Shortly after receiving the alarm, additional information was received stating that the bank had been robbed.
The suspect walked into the bank with a lunch box and handed a note to the teller stating that he had a gun and demanded money. After receiving the money, the suspect fled the bank in a 2013 Hyundai Sante Fe, NC registration plate number TMR-8978, in an unknown direction.
The Statesville Police Department has identified the suspect as Kelvin Wayne Simmons, 46 of Concord, and warrants for his arrest have been obtained. Simmons is also wanted for several other bank robberies in recent days from surrounding agencies.
