The program gives Northview Academy students the opportunity to build character, develop leadership skills, serve others, and create positive connections through hands-on learning experiences.
Throughout the month-long program, students participate in lessons and activities focused on teamwork, perseverance, kindness, bravery, confidence, and service. Activities include team-building exercises, outdoor learning experiences, physical challenges, and community service projects.
Students also take part in experiences such as challenge activities at The Beanstalk Journey, canoeing at Lake Norman State Park, hiking at Stone Mountain State Park, and a service project benefiting veterans at Fifth Street Ministries Veterans Village.
The Phoenix Project is designed to help students recognize their strengths, build confidence, and develop tools that support success in school, at home, and in the community.
At the conclusion of the program, students receive certificates recognizing their participation, along with letters highlighting the skills and character strengths they developed throughout the program.
The Statesville Police Department hopes to continue building on the success of the Phoenix Project and offer the opportunity to future groups of students.
