Death Investigation - Hickory Avenue
Statesville, NC – On June 1, 2024, at approximately 4:06am, the Statesville Police Department responded to a call regarding a deceased person inside a residence located in the 500 block of Hickory Ave. Upon arrival, officers discovered Shelbie Smith, 33, of Statesville, deceased inside her home.
The Statesville Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ms. Smith's death. The Statesville Police Department, in collaboration with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, is actively investigating the incident.
