The Statesville Police Department Explorer Program is designed for young adults who are interested in learning about team work, leadership, and law enforcement as a career through firsthand experience. An Explorer has the opportunity to learn all aspects and functions of the Police Department. By attending two meetings per month and participating in special activities, supervised by Statesville Police Officers, the Explorers gain direct knowledge of the job from actual law enforcement officers. The program also promotes personal growth and development while providing a positive service to the community. The Explorers program is affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America

Applicants for the Explorers program must meet the following requirements:

  1. Maintain a minimum “C” average with good attendance in the school they are attending.
  2. Be between the ages of 14 and 20.
  3. Have no serious criminal convictions, or be on probation.
  4. Be willing to volunteer your time to attend Explorer functions.
  5. Be willing to commit to the Explorers code and exemplify the professional image of the Statesville Police Department.
  6. Have a good moral character.
