Incident Investigation – American Renaissance School

On Wednesday March 29, 2023, the Statesville Police Department received a complaint alleging that a juvenile had been inappropriately touched at American Renaissance School. The initial investigation into the complaint found that the alleged incident occurred while the juvenile was having pictures taken at ARS Middle School.

The Statesville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division was assigned to the case and conducted a thorough investigation into the alleged incident. Information gathered from numerous employees and staff who were present during the alleged incident have provided no evidence of any inappropriate behavior related to the photography sessions at the school. Investigators discovered that American Renaissance School requires staff to be present anytime a contracted employee is with a student. Based off witness statements, a teacher and other staff were present and viewed the entire photo process on the day of the alleged incident. The information obtained during the investigation was presented to the District Attorney’s Office who concur there is no evidence to substantiate the alleged misconduct.

March 18, 1934: Officer James Ross White, age 43, was killed in the line of duty while investigating a traffic accident at the intersection of South Race Street and West Sharpe Street. He was struck by a hit and run vehicle and died shortly thereafter. The driver, Noah Hayes, was captured a short time later and admitted he was driving the vehicle.
