Community Resource Coordinator

Community Resource Coordinators play a crucial role in building bridges between the police department and the community, ensuring that law enforcement efforts are aligned with the unique needs and expectations of the people they serve.

By fostering trust and open communication, they help create a safer and more harmonious environment for everyone involved. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, community engagement, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, resource referrals, crime prevention education, youth programs, and collaboration with community leaders.

Community Oriented Policing Services (C.O.P.S.)

The mission of our Community Oriented Policing Officers (C.O.P.S.) Division is to engage citizens through community events, crime prevention programs and safety education presentations to create partnerships that will empower citizens to create and maintain safe communities.

This division also includes an officer to act as a liaison between the department and the Statesville Housing Authority.

Crime Prevention Officer

The focus of Crime Prevention is to organize and manage community involvement programs such as Neighborhood Watch and Citizen’s Police Academies. These programs help to reduce crime while providing valuable volunteer resources that assist law enforcement agencies to meet many of their public safety responsibilities.

This team also reaches out to local schools, churches, and organizations providing safety presentations to educate citizens of all ages.

Downtown Community Impact Officer

The Downtown Community Impact Officer serves as a liaison for the Downtown Statesville business district.

This officer also conducts routine foot and bike patrols, works closely with city officials, business owners and patrons to provide support and safety to the Downtown Statesville area.

School Resource Officers

The School Resource Officer (SROs) initiative deploys law enforcement officers to educational institutions, aiming to establish and uphold safe, secure, and well-organized learning atmospheres for students, teachers, and staff. Our officers embody a role beyond being simply "the cop in the shop." SROs embody a proactive approach strategically developed to introduce prevention and intervention measures within schools.

Presently, SROs are assigned to Statesville High School, Northview School, NB Mills Elementary, Oakwood Middle School, East Elementary, and Statesville Christian School.
