The Statesville Police Department is proud to introduce four dedicated individuals who were officially sworn in today by Mayor Costi Kutteh and Police Chief David Onley in the City Council Chambers of City Hall. Each of these new officers brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to serving our community. Let's get to know them:

Officer Germaine Fitchett

A native of Philadelphia, Germaine Fitchett has always dreamed of becoming a police officer, a goal he's had since the age of five. His journey to the Statesville Police Department began with his recent graduation from the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program at Mitchell Community College. With a diverse background that includes working as a Detention Officer with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, a Security Supervisor for the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS), and volunteering as an EMS with the Horsham Fire Company in Pennsylvania, Officer Fitchett’s experience is vast. He’s excited to turn his lifelong ambition into reality by joining the Statesville Police Department.

Officer Sean Caldwell

Sean Caldwell, a proud Statesville native, has a long history of service to his country. He began his journey in 2009 when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, dedicating 12 years to military service. In 2021, he transitioned to a civilian career as a Security Manager with Collins Aerospace, where he continued to demonstrate leadership and responsibility. However, Sean felt a strong pull to return to serving others, which led him to the Statesville Police Department. As a recruit, he completed his Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) at Mitchell Community College and is now eager to contribute to his hometown. Service runs in his family, as his uncle David has been with the department for over 20 years. Married to his wife Samantha for five years and a proud father of one, Officer Caldwell is excited to protect and serve the community he calls home.

Officer Joseph DiChiara

Originally from Long Island, NY, Joseph DiChiara has always felt the pull to be part of something bigger. Prior to attending BLET at Mitchell Community College, he worked in loss prevention, where he developed a passion for public safety and security. Officer DiChiara is excited to be a part of the Statesville Police Department, where he hopes to make a positive impact on the community and foster strong relationships with its citizens.

Officer Steven Padgett

Steven Padgett brings a wealth of experience from his time in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Combat Marksmanship Coach. After his military service, Steven worked as a Bail Bondsman and Fugitive Recovery Agent, and he also earned a degree in Gunsmithing. Recently graduating from BLET at Mitchell Community College, Steven is eager to continue his commitment to serving others by joining the Statesville Police Department. He’s driven by a desire to help his community and make a lasting, positive impact on the citizens of Statesville.
The Statesville Police Department is proud to welcome these four dedicated individuals. With their diverse backgrounds, shared passion for service, and commitment to upholding the law, Officers Fitchett, Caldwell, DiChiara, and Padgett are sure to make a valuable addition to the SPD team. We look forward to seeing their positive contributions to the community!
